Benefits of Membership

Congregations that join One Thousand Churches Connected will be taught to establish economic independence through debt elimination and long-term financial planning. Member Organizations will receive the following support to implement each congregation's financial ministry:

  1. Scripture references and a series of sermons written to introduce congregations to the concept of financial independence.

  2. A financial curriculum with formal lesson plans that focus on consumer credit counseling; long term saving and financial planning; mortgage financing; education and information on how technology impacts financial services. Relevant Biblical Scriptures will accompany modules of the curriculum.

  3. A computer and "Quicken" financial planning software packages for congregation members.

  4. Attendance at a three-day economic literacy training program for Pastors at the New York Stock Exchange.

  5. A 2-3 session commitment from the National Association of Investors Corporation to establish a model investment club in each church.

  6. An on-line Christian community link to a website that will provide updates on the curriculum; information on the progress of individual churches; serve as an Internet sharing center for sermons related to economic freedom; and links to other helpful sites.

  7. Training for certification of Financial Ministry Coordinators (person selected by church Pastor) in the areas of debt management and home ownership.

  8. Financial products and services with preferred terms will be provided to congregation members as they complete individual Modules. This includes Internet service, checking and savings accounts, premium mortgage rates, discounts on homeowners and auto insurance, etc. (services will vary based on geographic location)

  9. Free credit reports and Fair, Isaac scores for the first 100 members of each congregation who complete Module 1.
